There's no place like home — unless you want to travel and make more money, according to two out-of-state job recruiters.
Respiratory therapy students from Cohort 21 and 22 at American Career College-Ontario got to learn about potential job opportunities outside of California awaiting them after graduation thanks to a visit this September by two recruiters from Sanford Health Systems of the Midwest.
Bryan Stringham, the clinical education director for the respiratory therapy program at ACC-Ontario, said many states are hunting for new RT graduates and are paying hiring bonuses — and in some cases, relocation assistance — to lure healthcare workers out of California.
One of the perks about Sanford Health Systems, the group learned, is they allow students to start the application process before they graduate and take their boards, so they can immediately start their career after becoming licensed. Sanford Health also has both Level 1 and 2 Trauma facilities, Stringham added, giving their employees opportunities to get experience in many facets of respiratory care.
"It was great to see the students' interest and excitement for the future post-graduation," Stringham said. "It's never too early to start thinking about the future."
