ACC-OC Students Volunteer At Local Charity For Bahamas Hurricane Relief

September 9, 2019

A group of students from American Career College-Orange County volunteered this September with a local charity to assist with the Bahamas/Florida Hurricane Relief effort.

About 20 students and staff from ACC-Orange County visited the Giving Children Hope facility in Buena Park to assist the non-profit organization with preparing items for shipping to the region.

“We sorted and packed 11,000 pounds of clothing items and helped sort, pack and shrink wrap 27,000 pounds of donated Costco equipment and supplies to prepare to be shipped,” ACC-OC Student Resource Center specialist Keshia Stoner said. “We received praise from some of the volunteer coordinators for completing the projects so fast.”

Stoner said a second, smaller group of students helped translate surveys that were completed by families receiving GCH services.

Giving Children Hope is a faith-based non-profit organization that works to alleviate poverty, both domestically and internationally, through disaster relief, health and community development, vocational training and advocacy, according to its website.
