It all began during an ordinary drive home from work.
"One day I’m driving home, I’m on the freeway leaving work, and I’m like, I want to be a nurse," said recent American Career College graduate Sade M.
The realization struck her with clarity, and Sade knew it was time to act. Immediately, she called her mother to share her decision.
"I’m like, Mom, I want to go back to school, and she’s like, OK. I’m like, I just need the support. I have an 8-year-old son, so I’m like, I just need the support, and she’s like, you got it," Sade said.
With her mother’s encouragement, Sade wasted no time.
"I got off the phone in traffic, I called ACC, made an appointment, and I was enrolled the next day," she said.
Despite the whirlwind decision, Sade admitted she had no idea how it would all work out. Balancing a full-time job and motherhood while diving back into academics was no small feat. However, she found solace in the support she received from the admissions team at American Career College-Los Angeles.
“The admission staff was very nice,” she said. “Very supportive.”
Once enrolled in ACC-LA's vocational nursing program, Sade’s experience only solidified her belief that she had made the right choice. Financial aid was straightforward, and her instructors stood out for their attentiveness and dedication.
“All of my instructors were gems. They were really good, they were attentive,” she said. “Along with that, I feel like I’ve connected with a lot of the staff on a personal level.”
The support Sade received extended beyond the classroom. She emphasized how the entire ACC community was always within reach when she needed guidance or encouragement. Looking back, Sade couldn’t be more satisfied with her choice to return to school.
