After much anticipation, West Coast University was proud to open the doors of its new campus in Richardson, Texas for the first time to students this August.
With more than 136,000 square feet of space, WCU-Texas is the largest of the university's seven campuses and is equipped with expanded classrooms, simulation and debriefing rooms, plus a simulation pharmacy room and clinics skill development labs.
“It’s truly exciting to be a part of such an important day for West Coast University," WCU-Texas executive director Amy King said. "While we opened without a lot of fanfare due to the pandemic, the amount of work and time we have put into this campus has been remarkable and I can’t wait to have a proper grand opening in the near future. This building has been constructed and renovated with our students in mind because they deserve the very best.”
Students wasted no time taking advantage of the skills labs and classrooms after taking online classes for the past year.
"It's just great to have everyone back together again and see the students face-to-face," WCU-Texas nursing instructor Donna Kundaje said. "I don't mind teaching online but it is much easier to build relationships when you can actually be with the students and talk to them in person."
And after class, students took time to explore the library, student study areas, informal lounges and on-site cafe.
"I can't say it enough but I want to give a Texas-sized 'Thank You' to our amazing associates who have helped contribute to the Richardson campus facility and opening day," King said.
