Starting your journey at American Career College is an exciting step toward your future, but adjusting to a new academic environment can feel overwhelming. Whether you need academic support, career preparation, or assistance with personal challenges, ACC is here to ensure you have everything you need to succeed.
That sense of support begins on Day One.
“We focus on welcoming students into our community and helping them acclimate to their new environment,” ACC-Orange County academic retention specialist Robert B. said. “We do this by building rapport and trust, ensuring that every student feels supported.”
From academic resources to wellness services, ACC provides a wide range of tools to help you succeed in and out of the classroom.
Student Academic Success and Training Resource Center
The Student Academic Success and Training Resource Center (SASTRC) provides a wealth of self-help articles, learning tools, and institutional resources accessible through Canvas. From study tips and time management strategies to academic planning, this resource hub is designed to support students in building effective learning habits and reaching their educational goals.
ACC Ready
ACC Ready is a dynamic platform that helps students develop both academic and career skills. With personalized learning experiences and career-focused strategies, students are equipped with the tools they need to excel in the classroom while preparing for future professional opportunities. Students who complete the program receive an "ACC Ready" pin, presented at graduation after achieving their goals, along with their "ACC Ready" graduation cord.
Ambassador Program
The ACC Ambassador Program allows students to strengthen their leadership abilities and build a strong professional network. Participants take part in leadership activities, teamwork initiatives, and mentorship opportunities, earning formal recognition through a purple lanyard for their student ID, a certificate of completion, and a purple graduation cord. This experience is a valuable addition to any academic and professional portfolio.
Mental Health Resources
Through a partnership with AETNA, students have access to online mental health resources, professional counseling, and emotional well-being support. Additionally, ACC connects students with local mental health services, and all Student Services staff members receive mental health first aid training to provide timely assistance when needed.
Food and Housing Assistance
ACC provides students with access to local food assistance programs, food pantries, and government-supported initiatives. Students in need of housing support can also connect with shelters and other housing assistance programs, ensuring they have a safe and secure environment while pursuing their education.
Transportation Support
ACC offers guidance on commuting options, including bus, train, and carpool assistance. Each campus provides detailed information on parking facilities and on-campus transportation resources, helping students arrive safely and on time.
Child Care Resources
ACC understands the challenges student parents face and is committed to helping them succeed. Students can receive guidance on available childcare options, including daycare centers and after-school programs, allowing them to balance their academic goals with their family responsibilities.
With a wide range of academic, professional, and personal support services, American Career College ensures that students have the tools and resources needed to thrive. And when students need help navigating these resources, they’re never alone.
“We take a personalized approach, maintaining an open-door policy,” Baysa added. “If a student has a question and we don’t have the answer, we find it together. At the core of everything we do is a commitment to making sure students know they belong and have a strong support system every step of the way.”
If you have any questions about any of these resources or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to your Student Services department.
